Alabama 9-1-1 Board Partners with Prepared to Bring Video, Pictures to Text-to-911

MONTGOMERY, AL, December 19, 2023 - The Alabama State 9-1-1 Board, which works in partnership with the Emergency Communication Districts of Alabama to facilitate 9-1-1 service, announced last week a partnership with Prepared to make the company’s platform available as a text-to-911 solution statewide using the Alabama Next Generation Emergency Network, built by INdigital, a long-time industry partner to the Board.

Prepared’s platform enables emergency dispatchers to receive live video and other next-generation data from 911 callers alongside text. Crucially, the platform gives PSAPs the ability to translate incoming text and send translated outbound texts, matching existing offerings, in addition to the optional ability to share data directly with field responders and to synthesize certain data points using artificial intelligence. Prepared currently partners with agencies in 48 states that help protect over 80 million Americans and has raised over $30 million in venture funding.

“We are so excited to partner with the Alabama State 9-1-1 Board to bring our technology to every member of every community across the state,” says CEO Michael Chime, “The first-ever 911 call took place in Haleyville, Alabama in 1968 and it’s remarkable to think about how far 911 has advanced since that moment. For this state to be our first statewide partnership is incredibly special and we couldn't be more proud to serve these communities and their 9-1-1 professionals. We hope this partnership is just the beginning of the future of 9-1-1 in Alabama.”

“Text-to-911 is accessibility to 911. That is someone’s access to 911 that can’t make a voice call and we’ve had a number of situations where it was not safe or possible to place a voice call,” says Leah Missildine, Executive Director of the Alabama State 9-1-1 Board, “Text-to-911 is a tool in your tool belt that you should be using.”

”This is an exciting way to end 2023 as we look toward what network and service improvements INdigital can provide the state of Alabama. For 2023, our goal was to continue to develop products and services that provide better service to 911 centers, expanded the capability of the Alabama Next Generation Emergency Network (ANGEN), and helped move public safety communications forward,” says Caleb Branch, Vice President of Market Management at INdigital, “We asked ourselves and the 911 centers, ‘what the best thing would be for improved service to citizens in this area’…and we’re very proud to announce our partnership with Prepared to give 911 centers the option to implement livestream video, MMS, and the optional ability to share that dataset with responders.”

Alabama agencies interested in migrating to the Prepared solution should reach out to the Alabama State 9-1-1 Board.
